Our flagship project, Kasozi Village, is progressing well. Situated in Kamuli District in central Uganda, the fenced 6 acre facility is comprised of 4 orphan homes, a kitchen, 2 school buildings, 3 latrines, 3 wells, and a block of teachers’ quarters with a fully equipped clinic. There are also several playing fields for soccer, volleyball, basketball, and playground. We house and care for 175 children here, looked after by about 25 adult care-givers and teachers. The average age of our children is about 9. Our children were rescued from 3 distinct regions of Uganda. Our primary school, founded in February of 2008, is just completing its second term and both the teachers and students have adjusted nicely, under the skillful scrutiny of our British head-teacher, Emily Wilkes from Wooster in western England.
Our second block of staff quarters is nearing completion. We will soon be able to house additional teaching staff, as well as international volunteer guests in the new structure. It will be completed by the second week of September. In addition to the fenced village area, we have a nearby garden of 5 acres where we raise maize, vegetables, and elephant grass to feed our cow Janet (who recently gave birth to a lovely heifer calf called Katie). Now the kids can have fresh milk in their porridge! All of our staff members are born-again followers of Jesus, with the last 4 hold-outs surrendering their lives to Christ earlier this spring. The children are all believers in Jesus and organize themselves twice daily for prayer and worship.
In addition to the monthly feeding and staff salaries Uganda Orphans Fund (“UOF”) pays for at Kasozi Village, we also pay for food and other needs for 7 other orphan homes (average of 45 children in each) that we have built over the past few years. With the escalation of fuel prices and food prices, coupled with the devaluation of the dollar and a sharp drop in US donations, UOF is struggling to meet its $10,000 monthly obligation required for staff salaries, food, medicine, clothes, etc. Please consider supporting these precious orphan children God has entrusted us to care for and raise. Since our entire USA staff is totally volunteer, we have little monthly overhead state-side. Last year (2007), 94 cents of each donated dollar went directly to Uganda in support of our kids! This is a sharp contrast to some bigger non-profits that require up to 50% of their contributions just to keep the doors open in the USA before the funds begin to go overseas. We believe that a low-budget, streamlined, grassroots approach best enables us to see our vision through to fruition: to rescue and raise Ugandan orphans on their own soil, preparing them to be future leaders of their nation in all areas.

Duncan Hill, President and Founder of Uganda Orphans Fund, resides with his wife and children in Bozeman MT. In 2002, after hearing a specific and clear call from the Lord to go to Uganda, Duncan left his 20 year business career to follow the Lord's leading to the orphans of Uganda. Working fulltime without pay, Duncan makes 4 trips a year to Uganda to oversee the many orphan projects that Uganda Orphans Fund has built over the past 6 years. He is also constantly looking for more desperate children to rescue, and for places to build more homes in which to care for them.
