Crown Point Residents Complain about Noisy Revival

[-] Text [+]

CROWN POINT, Ind. - Crown Point city officials are threatening to revoke a permit for a church's tent revival meeting after numerous noise complaints from neighbors.

Living Stones Fellowship was granted a permit to erect a tent on its property for a monthlong prayer festival that runs daily until midnight.

Police Chief Pete Land says his department has issued 10 citations to the church between July 31 and Aug. 10. One neighbor told a packed city council meeting Monday night that she has to turn on the air conditioning, the washer, dryer and a fan to drown out the noise.

Pastor Ron Johnson Jr. says the church will work with city officials. He says the noise comes from the cheering crowd, not from the music at the prayer festival.

How about the 5 times a day muazeen blaring through many giant loud speakers where ever you go?
If you protest that the friendly Muslim shall pour gasoline on your head and ignite a spark.

Although I personally am not a member of a Christian fellowship that becomes loud in their worship, everyone has a right to worship as they choose. Perhaps people should contact authorities when extremely loud, vulgar, obscene outlandish rock or hip-hop music bothers others. I personally enjoy rock or hip-hop when it is not filthy, vile and obscene, but most local police do not care and will do nothing. There needs to be balance and fairness.

Honest worship, more power to them, but there's something to be said for being good neighbors, after all. Roaring crowds every night until midnight for a MONTH? Yeesh.

Most buildings are pretty sound-proof; I can't see folk complaining too much about the noise if they took it indoors, especially considering that many churches run several night vigils a year anyway.

when we worship the Lord we need to worship in truth and spirit, if the people in the crown point can't take the worship....how they are going to stand before when the Lord's coming ? Its going to be loud trumpet sound and the angels going sing ....Just be prepard and hear the God's voice. Amen !!! I am praying for this city.
