Pro-family activists in Connecticut are urging the people of the state to vote âyesâ for a constitution convention when they head for the polls on Nov. 4.
Though the 4-3 split decision by the Connecticut Supreme Court on Friday effectively redefined marriage in the state, Connecticuters will have the opportunity to have the final say if enough voters rally behind a call for the state legislature to convene a state constitution convention.
Every twenty years, under the state constitution, the ballot question "Shall there be a Constitutional Convention to amend or revise the Constitution of the state?" is placed on the ballot for consideration. This year marks Connecticutâs 220th since its admission to the Union in 1788.
âThe Court's willingness to undemocratically impose same-sex marriage on Connecticut has made it necessary for us to demand the right to Let the People Decide,â expressed Peter Wolfgang, executive director of the Family Institute of Connecticut (FIC), in a press release following Fridayâs high court decision.
âAnd that is why thousands of us will vote 'yes' for a constitutional convention on November 4th."
If enough votes are found to favor a convention, it will be incumbent upon the state legislature to convene a state Constitution Convention, explained Matthew M. Daly, chairman of the Constitution Convention Campaign. There, the people of Connecticut can implement âInitiative Referendaâ as a mechanism and amend the state Constitution for a 31st time.
âWe will work for a majority âyesâ vote this November 4th to hold a state constitutional convention and will fight to get a direct initiative law out of the convention,â FICâs Wolfgang reported. âAnd then we will put a question on the ballot to allow the public â not our robed masters â to decide once and for all if marriage will be protected in our state constitution as the union of a man and a woman.â
Friday ruling by the Connecticut Supreme Court made the state the third behind Massachusetts and California to legalize same-sex âmarriageâ through the courts.
The decision was denounced by pro-family leaders including Dr. James C. Dobson, founder and chairman of Focus on the Family, who said it was âanother tragic example of runaway judges trampling on citizensâ right to decide public policy for themselves.â
âNot only have these judges knowingly deprived Connecticut children of a mother or a father, but they have usurped the role of the legislators to create law,â Dobson expressed in a public statement.
In his statement, Wolfgang noted that â[e]ven a legislature as liberal as ours has heeded the will of the people and said no to same-sex 'marriage' year after year.â
âWith today's ruling the Supreme Court has said to the people of Connecticut that 'No, even this victory will be denied to you. We, your robed masters, will decide the big questions of politics and you little people will have no choice but to bend to our will,'â Wolfgang stated Friday.
But the pro-family leader says the state does not want judges to impose same-sex "marriage" by âundemocratic fiat,â and is encouraging the people of Connecticut to exercise their right to decide by direct initiative whether marriage will be protected or redefined.
â[W]e will not bow to the dictates of a handful of self-appointed philosopher kings,â he stated. âIf the Court will not respect its proper role to interpret, not make, law then we will seek other remedies.â
In addition to Connecticut, other states that will be hoping to settle their âmarriage crisisâ through the opportunities presented on Nov. 4 include California, Arizona, and Florida.

christians ought to pause and consider for a moment what they wish for. a constitutional convention is not limited to any one subject. the present one could be dumped completely and the entire constitution can be rewritten. many other groups will want to make changes too. nor are anyone's rights provided at such a convention.
If one is to read the Bible, and consider that, The Bible is indeed the Word of God, Then it must also be concluded that God declares homosexuality to be sin.
One cannot be on the side of God and on the side of homosexuality at the sametime.
Choose ye this day who ye will serve. Yoy can't have it both ways, either God is right, or homosexuality is right, Choose, all pro-homosexuality, Choose, then know that God will have the last word.
Hope, why are you spamming the same thing across several posts when the article is hardly worth reading. Its based on lies, taken out of context. I'm against McCain, yet if that sam article were about it I would not use it as fuel to the fire. That would barely make a spark.
Homosexual sex is sin. Jesus spoke out against sexual immorality, which is a category of sin that includes all sexual sin, including homosexual sex. Since sex between two people is a sin, any marriage between two people of the same gender is clearly against what God has sad is acceptable.
As for judging, Paul was clear about the need for believers to look at the lives of other believers and speak out against those in sin.
1 Corinthians 5:12-13
12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked man from among you."
Jesus said something similar.
Luke 17:3 So watch yourselves. "If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.
If you claim to believe God and trust in Christ, you have to follow what the Bible says.
Romans 6:15-16
15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! 16 Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey - whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?
1 Corinthians 5:11
But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.
2 Corinthians 12:21
I am afraid that when I come again my God will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery in which they have indulged.
1 Thessalonians 4:7
For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.
Mike: I'm not on a pedestal, but am in need of grace as anyone else. Historical connections? What your saying is its historical connections outweigh the thing itself. How can that be? History has never condoned homosexuality. And your wrong, Jesus wasn't silent about homosexuality. Homosexuality is one aspect of fornication, which Jesus instructed that if any spouse was to commit this act of defilement, the other spouse could put them away for it. If you want to use the arguement of silence, it would be to your disadvantage. There is all kinds of instruction given to the conduct and guidance of marriage between a man and a woman, but nothing is spoken as instruction toward a relationship of the same kind. Since no instruction is given, then, it doesn't exist, only condemnation. You say you look to history,, but keep referencing (wrongfully) the Bible.
Does what fit? You place yourself on this pedastal and anyone who interprets scripture other than your version must not be of God? How horrifically ignorant! You choose to interpret the Bible literally, I choose to look at its historical connections. The fact of the matter is, the Bible is completely silent about homosexuality as we know it today: between committed couples. Jesus himself didn't even speak of it, despite how some might stretch it.
Mike: This is Sparky! I don't have to assume what your relationship is with God. Your statements and attitude, as well as what you support (homosexuality) defines your position. The Word of God, which you claim to know, although very ignorant concerning, is the standard by which one can know the position of another, whether they are of God or not. "You will know them by their fruits." Evangelical's that speak the truth of God's Word will always take a bad rap. Jesus told us to expect it. He said that if we speak the truth, evil men will hate us. Does it fit Mike?
You are assuming quite a bit there sparky. You know nothing of the relationship between God and I, but it is Christians such as yourself who assume other people's relationships when they have no business doing so that give evangelicals such a bad rap. You can spread the good news all you want, but it simply isn't your place to assume my relationship with God or that you know the will of God.
Mike: I'm a Christian and I couldn't agree with you more. God did create everyone, but that doesn't make everyone His children, just His creation. Being born again in His Spirit, taking on a new life of holiness is what makes one His child. His children walk in newness of life, not in the flesh, but in His Spirit. Since you only know God through what He created, you obviously do not know Him as your Father.
Ezekial, I could not agree with you more. God created everyone, and some Christians deny it because it simply does not compute with THEIR understanding of the Bible, so they say "no, he couldn't possibly have!"
I don't know who flagged my last comment, but there wasn't one thing said that was inappropriate. It was flagged because it hit the mark. It was truth.
Amen Ezekiel!
I was brought in a devout Catholic family, God was then, and remains, a major influence on my life and how I live the life God blessed me with. I live by God's Commandments and expect others to do the same, although this is not always the case. Only God has the right to judge me for my sins or lack of them, not so-called God loving Christians or anyone else for that matter.
The divorce rate of heterosexual marriages has now reached 52%. This means over half of all children of heterosexual parents are living in single parent households, with many be raised by their grandparents. Study after study show this has directly caused an epidemic of children suffering from low self-esteem, severe depression/anxiety, anti-social behavior, teen pregnancy, promiscuity, dropping out of school and alcohol/drug abuse. On the contrary, studies show children raised by loving same-gender parents are much more less likely to suffer the same emotional problems and deviant behavior. They have higher self-esteem, more sensitive to others, much more tolerant and excepting of others differences. But, do religious right fanatics do anything to decrease the divorce rate or even try to solve the problems these poor children suffer? No, nothing, nada, their to consumed with preventing same-gender couple in loving committed relationships the right to marry. I've been in one of those loving committed relationships with my partner and love of my life for 29 years. Which means we have outlasted the majority of all heterosexual marriages. So much for the sanity of marriage your are trying so hard to protect by denying me the right to marry.
What I don't understand is why do so-called God loving Christians focus all their efforts and time in demonizing Gods gay children and fighting their same equal right to marry they have. Yet It seems Christians believe that God's gay children are to blame for all that's wrong with the world.
Less we forget that we're all God's children, he created us in his image and he loves all his children equally. I believe God would be disgusted with the hatred and intolerance spewed against any of his children. How dare religious fanatics, supposedly in God's name, deny any of his children, their God given right to love, be loved and live their lives in happiness. You call yourselves God loving Christians, but, the God to refer to, certainly isn't the loving God I, and true Christians worship. People who spew hate and would deprive others of the same equal rights are the true abominations in God's eyes.
Mike2685: Your interpretation of the Sciptures is skewed. If you understood the Bible, you would realize that it is God who has designed marriage and within His design, it is impossible for two of the same gender to become one. Your sexual lifestyle is in violation of His design and will.
Wow, you enjoy big words and conspiracy theories, huh?
PS
Who's more dangerous "conservatives" or "liberals" (whatever they are)? Dobson's ungodly deistic insanity (like his equally insane view of the equally deistic insanity of redressed antiBiblical evolution in a theistic dress, called "intelligent design" exhaustively refuted at www.answersinGenesis.org and www.trueorigin.org) of having the people instead of judges decide what marriage will be would have been a diabolical insanity to the Founding Fathers who knew they were "endowed by their Christian Creator, Jesus Christ, with certain inalienable rights" that neither people nor government would touch without guaranteed destruction. How ironic for Dobson's proud "conservative" derangement to lead him down a path the Founders would have condemned as evil and ungodly and probably demanding execution as a state criminal in the days when they knew our deranged delusion of "separation of church and state: would have required execution, but of course today itâ
When you have teachers in our government perversion and illiteracy centers pretending to be schools that don't know what country's north of us, and kids can't find the US on a world map it's hardly surprising that our nation of mostly illiterate mentally incompetents, soon to become Obamanation's brainwashed slaves to carry out his baby butchering, think the absurd and bogus fraud of "homosex-" is real. See the fraud exposed in "The gay invention" at
http://touchstonemag.com/archives/article.php?id=18-10-036-f
and see its fascist roots exposed by The Pink Swastika at www.abidingtruth.com/pfrc/books/pinkswastika/html/the_pinkswastika_4th_edition_-_final.htm
Also see pervert Kinsey's devious fascist destruction of our morals jurisprudence exposed at www.DrJudithReisman.org, and as for the bogus evil, ungodly fraud of "gay marriage" also only paraded by the illiterate mentally incompetent, see that exploded with the truth at www.robgagnon.net.
Our Founders warned us that without God and His Bible as our foundation we would be destroyed; the Germans and the Russians found that out the hard way in the 20th century and, God forbid, it looks like we're next, for fools who don't learn from history repeat it. See you in the Obamanation's gulags/gas chambers!
But gay marriage isn't sin, so we're all set on that issue. Next?
You are wrong if you think the lives of non-gays will not be affected by the acceptance of homosexuality as normal. It will lead to more sin being accepted as normal, which in turn will lead to more people sinning against God, which will lead more people going to hell instead of turning to God.
Of course, on the good side, it will make it that much more obvious how gracious and loving and patient God has been when it comes time for judgement.
I have bought into nothing, you simply have a much different biblical interpretation than I do. I'll ask you this: If you pray for me, pray that God's will be done, not what YOU think God's will is.
Hey Mike2685! No need to worry my good friend. The government officials in Connecticut won't listen to the mandate of the people. They're minds are already made up: gays can do whatever they want . . . to Hades with all Christians!
I must admit that I am anti-gay agenda. But I love the gay person, And I love them enough to tell them the truth.
But you mike, Don't want truth, you have bought into the lie, but from today on, i promise to pray for you, And I am not being sarcastic, I mean I will pray.
Nice try, but your anti-gay propaganda won't work. I'll check out that website later, but I hardly believe kids are being forced to pretend they're gay, just like the MA when everyone freaked out and said kids were being forced to learn about homosexuality in kindergarten, when in fact 1 teacher read a book about families, which included a kid with 2 dads, and the parents freaked out.
hey mike, It's about a whole lot more than Conn. Read world net daily, and see where children in kindergargen were being forced to play as though they were gay.
See where bfirst graders were taken to a lesbian wedding by their teacher.
It's about a whole lot more than Conn. There really is an agenda by the gay community.
They want their lifestyle to look as a legitimate lifestyle.
There must be opposition to this agenda, Or there will be much trouble.
In other words, lets vote for 2 folks who say what we want to hear, rather than who will be best to run the country? I don't think so!
Its time to sit down and shut up. This is not something that is being imposed on CT. It effects gay couples, and that's about it. Everyone else who is crying about it is putting their nose in our business, and shoving THEIR ways down our throats. Your world will not be changed if this passes or fails, mine will be. This means legal rights or not. This means things like hospital visitation, survivor benefits, health insurance, adoption, and the list goes on. There are 2400 benefits offered by civil marriage, and civil marriage is a civil right.
It's time to rally for the Federal Marriage Protection Amendment!
