Focus on the Family to Kick Off 12-City Tour
Focus on the Family will kick off a 12-city tour Monday to educate couples on how to strengthen their marriage, parenting skills, and family life.
Jim Daly, president of the pro-family Christian organization, will be in Dallas to host the first event of the "Celebrate Family Tour" – a live radio show taping in front of a studio audience.
Daly will be joined at the taping by co-host John Fuller, award-winning Christian music artist Matthew West, and special guest Dr. Gary Smalley, a bestselling author and marriage expert who will appear on the show to discuss his book As Long as We Both Shall Live.
"[W]hen you look in the Bible, the first institution that God formed was the family," says Daly in the promotional video for the tour. "It is what culture is based on – the family; a healthy marriage and parents who are loving and concerned for the well-being of their children."
But as Daly points out, popular culture is not helping parents raise their children in a healthy environment. Knowing this, Focus on the Family is planning to hold live events across the country to provide people with the tools and resources they need to have a healthy family life.
"[W]hat Focus is attempting to do is equip these parents to help their kids thrive, to be good kids," the pro-family leader says "And every parent, I believe – left, right and center – wants that for their children."
In particular, Daly encourages fathers to be more attentive toward their family and realize their career is not the priority in their life.
"I think sometimes we have that backwards. We've got to understand that our family is most critical and most valuable to us as men," he says. "We've got to invest the time with our kids, with our wives to say that you matter to me."
According to FOTF, The "Celebrate Family Tour" in Dallas is expected to draw more than 1,500 people.
Other cities on the tour schedule include Nashville, Chicago, Washington, New York City, Orlando, Seattle, and San Diego. At each event, audience members will have the opportunity to participate in the show.
The events are free and open to the public, but pre-registration is requested and can be done on tour.focusonthefamily.com
