A quick-thinking and brave 91-year-old great-grandmother's assertions about faith to an armed gunman saved her life on Saturday.

The woman, whose identity has been withheld for safety reasons, woke up in her Horn Lake, Mississippi, home on Saturday morning to find a gun pointed at her head. The armed robber had broken into her home and made threats to end her life which prompted the witty senior to proclaim her faith.

"He said something about, 'You know, I could shoot your brains out,'" the great-grandmother told WMC Action News 5.

Despite being in the midst of a terrifying ordeal, the devoutly Christian woman extended her faith to the gunman by getting him to contemplate his fate and the afterlife.

"I said, 'You do know where you'd go. I'm going to a better place. I'm going to heaven. You're going to hell,'" she recounted. "I said, 'You've got to think about that. Would you want that to happen?' He didn't say a word. He turned around and he stared at the wall and then all at once, he turned on his heels, walked back out in that hallway."

The robber took off from the home with several hundred dollars in cash, however, the great-grandmother is just grateful that he chose to spare her life. A prayer to God also worked in her favor.

"I just knew I was fixing to die, but I said, 'Oh God, please don't. Take care of me.' And I guess He heard me," she said.

Police are said to be searching for leads but they have very limited clues. The woman could not identify the suspect because there are no streetlights outside of her home, however, he was reportedly wearing all black.

It is unclear whether he acted alone and if he fled on foot or in a vehicle.

Anyone with information is being asked to call 662-429-TIPS (8477).
