AMD Ryzen 5 Line-up News: Company Announces Mid-Range Chips With Competitive Specs and Prices
Microchip company Advanced Micro Devices finally provided some details for their mid-range Ryzen 5 line-up, and they are showing some competitive technical specs and prices.
AMD is back at giving Intel chipsets fierce competition. After revealing a hefty line-up of Ryzen 7 chips earlier this month, now, AMD has revealed the Ryzen 5 processing chips that targets mainstream users.
It has been a known fact that Ryzen chips are all ready to perform with overclocking speeds which makes the entire line-up enticing.

For the Ryzen 5 category, there will be four variants of the chip to be released.
The more superior among the bunch is the Ryzen 5 1600X that has 6-cores, 12-thread specs with a base clock speed of 3.6 gigahertz and 4.0 GHz on turbo mode. For comparison, its Intel counterpart, the Core i5-7600K, works with a 4-core, 4-thread process and has a slightly higher base speed of 3.8 GHz with 4.2 GHz on overclock. However, AMD wins big in the Level 3 Cache, having 16 MB while Intel's product has 6 MB. As for the price, the Ryzen 5 1600X will cost $249 while the Core i5-7600K is currently priced at $242.
The Ryzen 5 1600 was also presented as a lower-end variant from the 1600X model and will cost $219.
AMD has also introduced the Ryzen 5 1500X with a 4-core, 8-thread process compared to its Intel counterpart, the Core i5-7500, which has 4-core, 4-thread specs. Meanwhile, the two competing chips are somewhat on the same level in terms of clock speeds. The Ryzen 5 1500X is promised with a 3.5 GHz base speed and 3.7 GHz on overclock while the Core i5-7500 reportedly performs at 3.4 GHz base clock and 3.8 GHz turbo mode. But AMD, again, has a much bigger L3 Cache. The Ryzen 5 1500X will be priced at $189, which is a tad higher than Core i5-7500's tag of $182.
Lastly, the Ryzen 5 1400 completes the line-up with 4-cores, 8-threads process plus 3.2 GHz base and 3.4 GHz turbo speeds that will cost $169.
All Ryzen 5 chips will hit the shelves on April 11.
