Android 5.0 Lollipop Update for Samsung Galaxy S3, S4, S5, Note 3, Note 4 Details
Depending on carriers and regions, some Samsung Galaxy series smartphone owners are already enjoying the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update, while others remain hopeful for the update to come sooner.
For Samsung Galaxy S5, the current-gen flagship of the South Korean tech giant, Lollipop first rolled out for Verizon subscribers in February and was followed by T-Mobile later in the month. Sprint and AT&T meanwhile assured users that their handsets will soon get the sweet taste of the new OS.
For the later Samsung Galaxy S4, Techtimes.com indicated in their report that U.S. carriers has yet to release the Lollipop update. However, Samsung had already sent the update for their international versions like in Russia and in India on January and early February, respectively.
OS updates for the two-year-old S3s remained to be seen. The device, who still hasn't received the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update, is less than likely to be passed on with the recent OS.
Android Geeks meanwhile wrote that for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners, they might have a good chance to receive the updates based on the recent announcement made by Samsung which states that the 2012 flagship will certainly get the Lollipop.
For the more recent reiteration of the phablets (Note 3 and Note 4), GSM Arena said that the tech firm is "currently in the process of updating" the mentioned devices.
The site however mentioned that for those Galaxy S5 Mini owners, the wait might have to be extended probably upto the early parts of April and in the end of June.
"The Korean smartphone maker did promise that it too would receive Lollipop, but that hasn't happened yet. And it looks like you're still in for quite a wait. Samsung's French arm has revealed that the S5 Mini is slated to taste the latest version of Android sometime in the second quarter of this year," the website stated.
