Apple iPhone 7 vs Apple iPhone 6 Specs and Features: Display, Design, Camera, Price

Should Apple iPhone 6 owners upgrade to iPhone 7? The following is a comparison of the specs and features of both phones.

Display

At first glance, it seems as if both iPhones have the same display specs, with the only difference being that the iPhone 7 has 3D Touch technology, allowing it to sense various touch pressure levels and basically letting apps and games do more.

However, the iPhone 7 has more to offer. For example, it is 25% brighter than the iPhone 6 at maximum. Its colors are also much more accurate.

Design

The Apple iPhone 7 looks a lot like the iPhone 6. The iPhone 7 is just a little bit bigger than the iPhone 6; the difference is almost negligible. The iPhone 7 has the following dimensions: 5.44 in x 2.64 in x 0.28 in, while the iPhone 6 is 5.44 in x 2.64 in x 0.27 in. The iPhone 7 also weighs 138 grams while the iPhone 6 weighs less at 129 grams.

While both phones are almost identical in shape and size, they differ in many other aspects, including strength. The Apple iPhone 7 is made of Series 7000 aluminum, which makes it much less prone to bending than the iPhone 6. The latest Apple smart phone also has a water-resistant feature, which makes it still functional after 30 minutes of being fully-submerged in water.

Another clear improvement over the iPhone 6 is the home button. According to Apple, "the Home button on your iPhone 7 of iPhone 7 Plus is an advanced solid-state button that Apple designed to be durable, responsive, and pressure sensitive. Working with the new Taptic Engine, the Home button gives you haptic feedback when you press it."

Some Apple users were put off by the absence of the 3.5 mm headphone jack, though. Apple decided to remove it for the iPhone 7, and instead give users the option of using wireless headphones through a Lightning port.

Camera

Apple introduced some upgrades for the iPhone 7's camera, but the iPhone 6 produces excellent photos and videos as well. The iPhone 7 has a 12 MP camera with a wide angle sensor. It also has an f/1.8 aperture. Some of its features include 8 MP image recording, simultaneous 4K video, and HDR for photo/panorama.

The iPhone 7 also has a quad-LED flash with a 7 MP front camera that has an f/2.2 aperture and 1080p recording.

The iPhone 6 rear camera has an 8 MP sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. It has a dual-LED flash with 4K video recording capacity. The front camera has an f/2.4 aperture with 720p video recording capacity, and a prominently abysmal 1.2MP camera.

Price

The Apple iPhone 7 32 GB version is priced at $649, the 128GB version is $749, while the 256GB version is $849. For the iPhone 6, the 16GB version is $549, while the 64GB version is $649.
