Apple iWatch Release Date, Latest News: A Closer Look at the Wearable Tech, Watch to Arrive in Early 2015
The long-awaited wearable tech from Apple was launched and named simply as Apple Watch instead of its media-induced moniker, the iWatch, during its Sept. 9 unveiling. The Apple Watch is greatly compatible with iOS 8 iPhone and has a "premium rectangular design with rounded-off corners."
Right off the bat, the wearable gadget not only shows updates from the user's social media accounts like Facebook and Twitter, it also displays essential notifications like incoming calls, texts and emails. It basically cut off the need to check on those phones nesting on your pockets.
Inspired from the iPod Nano, the rectangular screen of the Apple Watch is seamlessly encased by custom alloys of stainless steel and aluminum that, as being said, will surely withstand the ordeal of active daily use.
Unique among its peers, the Apple Watch bears the new control scheme that the Cupertino-based tech developed for this particular device: the digital crown. Eliminating the impracticality of "pinch-to-zoom" touchscreen mechanic on a small screen, the crown instead allows the user to rotate and zoom into the application he/she wishes to access.
The digital crown also acts as the wrist device's home button. It can be further utilized to scroll through dates as well as use it to adjust time or volume.
Envisioned to be a fashionable wearable technology, the Apple Watch gives its users the leeway to personalize the look and feel of their smartwatch. It has 11 watch faces and more to come in the store.
The replaceable straps come in a variety of design and material to suit its purpose. There's the leather-colored strap for a classic feel and an elastomer Sport Band for a sportier look.
Regarding the release date, Tech Radar speculated that the iPad/iPhone-compatible watch will not likely to arrive in the shelves within this year but in 2015.
They pointed out reports from a Taiwanese media outlet indicating Apple holding off the production due to the shortage of sapphire supply. Come January or February, the market will have to expect less than 10 million smartwatches due to the constraints of the said material.
