Barcelona Transfer Rumors, News: Trade With Real Madrid for Angel di Maria?

FC Barcelona is now surrounded by rumors that they are planning to make a transfer deal with their rival Real Madrid for their player Angel di Maria.

Barcelona is considering a €60 million offer to Real Madrid but their initial approach to make a deal was rejected, according to Sport as reported by 101 Great Goals.

The rumor sounds ridiculous but it holds some truth in some ways. Currently, Barcelona is facing a 12-month transfer ban effective August 31 and acquiring di Maria before that deadline could be a way to soften the effect of such a long ban.

Barcelona had initially appealed against the ban, opting to move it to January next year and two last transfer windows but FIFA had rejected it. The acquisition of di Maria would have put Barcelona in a strong position despite the imminent implementation of the ban.

For one, di Maria is an excellent player when it comes to setting up goals for his teammates. His performed so well for Real Madrid in La Liga and in the UEFA Champions League that he was labeled as Real's star.

Things have gone bad for di Maria and Real, however, as the Argentine player is looking to move on and play for other clubs. As unlikely as it seems, di Maria would do well within Barcelona.

As an excellent goal setter, Barcelona forward Lionel Messi wouldn't have any trouble looking for an opening to score goals. In fact, di Maria and Messi have already played together in the international level during the recently concluded FIFA World Cup.

With Luis Suarez on a ban for biting a player and Neymar Jr. suffering a Grade 1 ankle injury, Barcelona boss Luis Suarez would need di Maria to provide Messi with the support he needs. Even with Barcelona requiring di Maria's strength, the trade is still a far off possibility, even with the €60 million offer.

Still, Real Madrid would be folly to provide their enemy with the player they need and would rather sell di Maria off to some other teams than Barcelona.
