'Bates Motel' Season 5 Episode 5 Spoilers: Rihanna Checks In

The upcoming episode of "Bates Motel" season 5 will see Marion Crane (Rihanna) checking into the eponymous hotel and meeting Norman (Freddie Highmore) for the first time.

The synopsis for the new episode, titled "Dreams Die First," states that Sam's (Austin Nichols) girlfriend, Marion, will make a "spur-of-the-moment decision," which may indicate her character stealing from her boss, much like "Psycho." However, her actions will not come without ramifications.

Meanwhile, Norman will try to make sense of Mother's (Vera Farmiga) actions, but it remains to be seen if he will be successful or if he will get caught up in his psychotic mind again.

Finally, Dylan (Max Thieriot) and Emma (Olivia Cooke) come face to face with a terrible fact.

A teaser trailer for the next episode has also been released. It starts out with Norman mumbling to himself as he attempts to nervously start a car. "It's all gonna be good," he repeats under his breath. Dr. Gregg Edwards (Damon Gupton) reminds Norman that he does not have to cope with his situation alone, and Norman replies that he is not alone.

The clip also sees Sheriff Dana Greene (Brooke Smith) talking to Norman alone. She points out that there are people who are accusing him of killing his mother, and he replies that it is "much easier to just blame it on the kid who just got out of the mental institution."

The final scene in the trailer features Rihanna as Marion, driving on a rainy night and coming across Norman's motel. And, as those who have seen Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" know, checking into the motel will not end well for her.

Norman's psychosis is only getting worse. He is trying to fight Mother's control over him, but it is clearly not working. After having dinner with Madeleine (Isabelle McNally) and kissing her in the previous episode, Norman saw visions of his new crush with her throat slit. And while she was ultimately revealed to be alive, it remains to be seen if she really survived Mother's rage.

"Bates Motel" season 5 airs Mondays at 10 p.m. EDT on A&E.
