Blackberry Classic Release Date, Specs Rumors: Smartphone to Be Offered in November

Blackberry announced the Passport smartphone at a global event simultaneously held in Toronto, Dubai and London last week. Showing a "slightly different" style, the Passport dons a "true" 4.5-inch display with 1,440 x 1,440 pixel resolution touchscreen display.

An ebook reader's delight, this new handset from BlackBerry Limited offers a wide display of 60 characters, which makes webpage viewing pleasurable and document reading much easier. Meanwhile, the BlackBerry Classic is also making rounds in the tech news. Here's what we rounded up so far about the rumors.

Formerly called BlackBerry Q20, the Classic comes with the recently released 10.3.1 operating system and dons a similar design to that of BlackBerry Bold.

Originating from the Weibo account of a reseller, leaks of the phone's specs suggested it comes with a better looking metal frame build. Its patented QWERTY keyboard stretches from edge to edge along the bottom of the phone.

The display measures 3.5 inches with a resolution of 720 x 720 pixels with a capacitive touchscreen and a pixel density of 291 ppi. Said to be the thinnest handset BlackBerry will ever produce, the Classic measures a dimension of 130 x 72 x 9mm.

Under the hood, GSM Arena posted that it will have a Qualcomm MSM8960 chipset with a dual-core CPU that could clock to 1.5 GHz. It has WiFi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth and NFC capability. It is also rumored to arrive with a 2GB worth of RAM and a long-lasting 2,525 mAh battery. There's still no information made available regarding the front/back camera specifications and the inclusion of HDMI port.

Pricing details are still unknown. However, the website reported that BlackBerry Classic is expected to hit the shelves in November this year.
