'Bourne 5' Release Date: Matt Damon-Led Sequel to Take 'Planet of the Apes' Vacated Slot
Release date for the upcoming Matt Damon-led "Bourne" sequel has now reportedly been changed from the initially announced July 15 outing to a July 29, 2016 screening date.
The still "Untitled Next Bourne Chapter" will be replacing the showing date for "Planet of the Apes 3" which is now scheduled to hit the big screens on July 2017, Variety.com reported.
The new slot will see the action-thriller getting a weeklong head start against the anticipated DC Comics film adaptation "Suicide Squad" which will see actors Will Smith, Jared Leto, and Margo Robbie as Deadshot, The Joker, and Harley Quinn, respectively.
In addition to the newly-announced release date, ComingSoon.net reported that acclaimed director Paul Greengrass will return to take back the helmer's seat alongside Frank Marshall and Jeffrey Weiner as producers.
Both Greengrass and Damon are also set to produce the movie.
Damon previously declared that he won't be doing another Bourne unless Greengrass is on board and that they wouldn't commit themselves to the project until they found the right script.
Turns out, the two will be writing the screenplay themselves. They will be joined in the penning with Greengrass' long-time collaborator and film editor Christopher Rouse.
The next Bourne film will see the return of actor Matt Damon on his most iconic action movie role as the amnesiac, super-spy Jason Bourne. The installment was announced back in November.
