Carmen Electra and 'The Choice,' Newly Single Actress Seeks Love
Carmen Electra has called off her 4-year engagement to rocker Rob Patterson and signed herself onto Fox's new dating show, "The Choice."
The couple announced their engagement in 2008, and although they are broken up, Patterson is still living with Electra.
"[The engagement is] off … they're more like roommates," said a source close to the former couple, according to Life & Style magazine. "She hasn't been wearing her ring for awhile, but they're good friends and it's been really hard for them to fully separate."
Her marriage to the Filter guitarist would have been Electra's third; she was previously married to rock star Dave Navarro and NBA star Dennis Rodman.
News of the broken engagement arrives just days after Electra was unveiled as a celebrity contestant on "The Choice." The model and actress will join reality television star Rob Kardashian, model Tyson Beckford, singer Joe Jonas, and "Jersey Shore" stars Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and Paul "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio, among others.
"The Choice" slightly resembles the reality singing show "The Voice" in that the dating series will also include blind auditions. The celebrity singles will start the first round without viewing their dates.
Many of the contestants on "The Choice" are male celebrities and female non-celebrities, but Electra will be featured on a special episode that will see fellow female celebrities including model Hope Dworaczyk, Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih, and actress Sophie Monk.
Other male contestants include actor Dean Cain, radio personality Mike Catherwood, celebrity chef Rocco Dispirito, "American Idol" alum Taylor Hicks, actor Jason cook, rapper Romeo, and comedian Finesse Mitchell.
Athletes slated to appear on the reality dating series include skiing professional Jeremy Bloom, New England Patriots' Rob Gronkowski, and snowboarder Seth Wescott, among others.
"The Choice" will premiere on Fox June 7 at 9 p.m. EST.
