A group of Seattle Police Department officers who stopped a driver speeding to the hospital with his pregnant partner in labor with their fourth child, were forced to help the mother deliver the baby as they waited for an ambulance to arrive and it was all caught on camera.

According to a report from the SPD, at about 3:45 a.m. on Sunday, Officer Anthony Reynolds saw a car running red lights and speeding down Martin Luther King Jr. Way S. After he pulled the car over, the driver who was not identified jumped out of the car and shouted that his wife was in labor.

A clip of the video shows the man telling the officer: "She's in labor man … Let me go I can make it."

The officer told him however that an ambulance was on the way to help, but the baby did not cooperate as the mother is heard in the video screaming "It's coming out."

The SPD said officers Lorissa Johnson, Nicholas Kartes and Jason Alvord joined Officer Reynolds at the scene, as the couple's baby girl was born but the baby had a problem breathing.

"After first giving a full-throated cry as she burst into the world, the young girl began struggling to breathe. With the help of the child's mother, Officer Reynolds cleared the baby's airway and got her breathing again," said the SPD statement.

Shortly after, medics arrived and transported the mother and child to a nearby hospital.

The couple has since thanked the police for their help and sent a note that they were doing well.

"You have helped deliver a precious gift," they couple reportedly wrote. "We are so grateful."

In a further statement, the father of the baby girl praised the actions of the officers.

"Afraid the baby wouldn't wait, I jumped out of the car and approached the police vehicle to alert Officer Reynolds of the situation. He instantly was willing to help us. He made sure my wife was okay and then called for an ambulance. Shortly after that my daughter was born in our car. Officer Reynolds was able to remove the body fluid out of my daughter's mouth to start her breathing. I was surprised and deeply touched by the compassion of Officer Reynolds," the father noted.

"He stayed with us during the entire time and went above and beyond to ensure the safety of my wife and newborn child. Our baby is very healthy and arrived in the hospital in stable condition. All of my family and friends would like to thank the Seattle Police Department for their strong code of ethics. You have helped deliver a precious gift and we are so grateful," the father added.
