CBS' Upcoming Superhero Series Supergirl Cast Rumors, Details: Holloyoaks Star Gemma Atkinson Suiting Up for the Role?
CBS' "Supergirl" series is another DC Universe superhero slated to appear in a TV adaptation. According to reports, the small screen project will be spearheaded by none other than The CW's "Arrow" showrunner Greg Berlanti.
After all the speculations pointing into the possibility of the show pushing through, it is now known that the series is now moving forward. In fact, recent rumors indicated that the crew is rooting for a former "Hollyoaks" star to suit up the lead role.
The Sun U.K. actress Gemma Atkinson is one of those who auditioned to be Supergirl.
"Gemma is a huge fan of comic books so this is something she'd jump at. It will make her huge Stateside," a source told The Sun. "She said next year will be her best yet whatever happens. If she gets Supergirl it will be amazing or if she begins working on Emmerdale that will be great too."
However, the website noted that the "Casualty" star is still "waiting to hear whether she has been cast" as the 24-year-old Kara Zor-El.
Previous cast rumors also indicated that "The Vampire Diaries" alum Claire Holt was also found out running for the role. But then, it appears that she has to forgo the red cape as her hands are already tied up for other TV projects like "The Originals" and (upcoming) NBC show "Aquarius."
No further information was known as to when the show will hit the airwaves.
