Christian Rap Group Endorses GOP Presidential Candidate Sen. Ted Cruz in New Song 'Set It on Fire'

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, confirms his candidacy for the 2016 U.S. presidential election race during a speech at Liberty College in Lynchburg, Virginia, March 23, 2015. Cruz, a conservative firebrand who frequently clashes with leaders of his Republican Party, became the first major figure from either party to jump into the 2016 U.S. presidential election race on Monday when he announced his candidacy earlier in the day on Twitter.

A Christian rap group that goes by the name We Are Watchmen embraced GOP presidential hopeful Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, in a brand new rap song "Set It on Fire."

The song focuses on politics and promotes conservative values such as limited government and personal responsibility.

"So, courageous conservatives! Rise up and roll out! All in the war (can we win?) No doubt!," the group sings in the bridge that is preceded by an endorsement for Cruz.

"Make D.C. listen; switch off the dead news the lame stream media feeding us the fed stew collectivism everyone's a victim like the reds do and for our next president, we're all in for Ted Cruz."

We Are Watchmen describe themselves on their website and a "movement that uses music and message to mobilize American Christians to civic duty."

Their "About Us" section also features a passage from the book of Ezekiel.

"But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand."

Cruz, the GOP hopeful embraced by We Are Watchmen, announced his candidacy for president at the evangelical Christian Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, in March.

The school did not endorse Cruz, but gave him a platform to announce his campaign.

"I am thrilled to join the largest Christian university in the world," announced Cruz. "Today, I want to talk to you about the promise of America."

Cruz vowed to align closely with the nation of Israel during his speech and to police U.S. borders.

"Instead of the lawlessness ... imagine a president that finally, finally, finally secures the borders. And imagine a legal immigration system that welcomes those who come to achieve the American dream," said Cruz. "Imagine a president that stands, unapologetically, with the nation of Israel."
