'Code Black' Season 1 Episode 9 Spoilers: CBS Drama Gets Extended; Broadway Artists Join Episode
CBS' freshman medical drama TV series "Code Black" is getting five additional episodes from its original 13-episode count. This means the series now has 18 episodes in total. Meanwhile, new reports indicate Broadway performers joining the upcoming episode with one to play the very character he portrayed on the stage.
First off, the report from Deadline.com credited the extension of the Marcia Gay Harden-starred show for its "modest debut," 1.5 in Live+ Same Day 18-49. On the DVR side, "Code Black" is also performing satisfactorily. Overall, the title is "improving little by little," which the media outlet said is "something very few shows have accomplished."
More good news coming for the show. This week, it will return with a brand new episode that will see the appearance of the cast members from the musical "The Lion King."

The report from CTVNews.ca further revealed that retired Broadway actor Alton Fitzgerald White will also be appearing on the episode titled "The Son Rises."
The stage performer will particularly play an actor who portrays Mufasa in the musical. He will be joined by his fellow cast mates from the real Disney stage production.
The synopsis shared over at The Futon Critic said that Lawrence (White) will arrive at the Angels Memorial hospital to have his throat infection treated. Dr. Leanne Rorish (Harden) will give the performer a diagnosis that could jeopardize both his career and life. His fellow "Lion King" members will be there to give him support.
Interestingly, the storyline will also merge with an emotional plot that concerns a boy and his ailing father. According to the TFC summary, the Angels Memorial doctors and the visitors from "The Lion King" will help a 17-year-old deal with a decision that would finally put his father to rest.
CTV News added that viewers will get to see the theater actors singing the song "He Lives In You" as they rally behind the teenager.
"Code Black" Season 1 airs this Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 10 p.m. on CBS.
