'Deadpool' News, Update: Ryan Reynolds Says Film Won't Have 'X-Men' Budget
Latest "Deadpool" movie update indicates that the X-Men spin-off might not be getting the big purse that its parent film had been enjoying. It appears that the upcoming superhero flick won't be on the same scale than the "X-Men" film series.
"It's not like an X-Men movie where there's this gigantic budget," the 38-year-old actor told The Independent. "It's quite a small film. It's very difficult to weave that character into other comic movies. He knows he's in a comic book. If he met Wolverine, he'd greet him as Hugh Jackman. It's tough to create a meta-universe within another universe that doesn't have any of those components."
But this doesn't mean that it won't be as any good as those titles included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"Deadpool" comic series creator Rob Liefeld said in a separate interview (via Variety) that the upcoming title would be much like James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy" in the matter of "heart and soul as violence and action."
"Prepare for an experience that you haven't encountered yet," Liefeld said. "It's a new template in the way that 'Guardians of the Galaxy' established a new tone for the franchise. 'Deadpool' will do the same."
As for Reynolds, Liefeld went on to say that the actor will certainly "own the character" the same way as Robert Downey Jr. had successfully did with Tony Stark and Iron Man.
"In the same manner that Robert Downey Jr. co-opted Tony Stark/Iron Man and now seems to 'own' him in that way that you can't imagine Iron Man without him, that's what will happen with Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool," he added.
"Deadpool" is slated to hit the cinemas Feb. 12, 2016.
