Those participating in Don't Go To Work Unless it's Fun Day have taken to Twitter sharing how they are celebrating the event.

"Lucky me!! I'm already off work," wrote Janette.

Pam posted, "Happy 'Don't Go to Work Unless it's Fun Day,' I'm good… I'm leaving shortly for the American Distilling Conference!"

"Do you love your job? I love mine being a Macaroni Mama is where it's at," wrote Michelle.

Many users joked about the unique holiday on the social media site Tuesday.

"Today is 'Don't Go to Work Unless it's Fun Day,'" wrote Bark. "Don't know who created this day but I'm sure it wasn't your boss!"

The origin of the holiday is unknown, but advice found online suggests that special and bizarre days are fun to participate in as long as there is no risk of losing your job.

April 3 also marks Find a Rainbow Day, Chocolate Mousse Day, as well as Tweed Day.

Tweed Day honors the unfinished woolen fabric which originated in Scotland.

In Hartford, Conn., everyone celebrates Tweed Day by wearing the fabric before meeting in State House Square to re-enact scenes from movies such as "Newsies" where tweed costumes were used.

Additionally, the Vermont based ice cream company Ben & Jerry's is offering free cones Tuesday to any customer who visits their nationwide shops for Free Cone Day.
