'Downton Abbey' Season 5 News: Lady Mary Decides Between Lord Gillingham and Charles Blake
More drama is in store for "Downton Abbey" in its fifth season as Lady Mary chooses between Lord Gillingham and Charles Blake.
According to Independent.co, she will come to a decision when she embarks on a Liverpool weekend with one of them, which will be featured on the third episode of the new season. In the episode, Lady Mary and her new love have been out and about Liverpool for the whole week and getting away with it, until they kiss goodbye in front of the Grand Hotel where Spratt, the Dowager Countess' butler, spots them from across the street.
After knowing about Lady Mary's weeklong romp with her new paramour, the Dowager Countess summons her and asks if there won't be "an unwanted epilogue." After Lady Mary reassures her that there won't be a child born out of wedlock, the Dowager is relieved yet shocked by the scandalous scenario and asks her whether her new man has proposed and whether they have set a wedding date yet.
When Spratt comes in with their tea, Lady Mary says that "the conference" she attended was very interesting and she learned a great deal.
Lady Mary will also meet someone from Gillingham's past, and the encounter will prove to be a bit awkward.
Meanwhile, the Dowager Countess reveals her surprising secrets to Isabel, after the appearance of Russian refugee Prince Kuragin sparked rumors of a past romance.
Thomas is back in Downton and is suffering from a mysterious illness, and Sarah Bunting is also back. Rose's father will also make an appearance and will bring some news that will shock the whole family.
"Downton Abbey" is set to premiere its fifth season in the U.S. on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015 at 9 p.m. on ET. It is currently airing its new season in Britain on ITV.
