'Elementary' Season 6 Spoilers: What Secrets Does Sherlock's Friend Michael Keep?
Sherlock's savior, an old acquaintance named Michael (to be played by Desmond Harrington), may be hiding a dark motive in the upcoming season of "Elementary."
Executive producer Rob Doherty recently teased to TVLine that Harrington's character is actually more complex than who he appears to be. It has been previously revealed that Michael knew Sherlock when both of them were still attending the meetings for AA. The former was inspired by the consultant's words and used them to change himself for the better. Years later, Michael will once again encounter his savior and will decide that it is his turn to help.
In last season's finale, Sherlock was told by the doctor that he could have a brain tumor. He is expected to undergo depression due to his condition which will require him to take some time off from work. Although Doherty would not confirm anything about Sherlock's health, he did say that life in general would become more complicated for the consultant. This is where Michael will come in. He will become a friend to Sherlock, someone who will be a willing listener to all his sorrows and woes.

"At least in the early goings, he'll be something of a friendly ear for Sherlock, who will be going through a lot," Doherty said. "Michael is somebody who's in recovery and someone who wants to be helpful. But as is so often the case, the deeper we get into the season, we'll see there's a bit more going on with Michael than meets the eye."
Meanwhile, Sherlock has yet to share his fears with Joan (Lucy Liu) and the spoilers reveal it may be too late. Joan is still angry that he did not attend Shinwell's (Nelsan Ellis) funeral. There are speculations that she will continue to look for answers regarding his death. Executive producer Robert Hewitt Wolfe said that for Joan, Shinwell was someone important, a person she was supposed to save. When he died, she took that as her personal failure to make the world a better place.
"Elementary" season 6 is rumored to air in 2018.
