Farrah Abraham on Writing Christian Parenting Book: 'There Really is No Perfect Christian,' Reality Star Says
"Teen Mom" star Farrah Abraham has been involved in a number of controversies ever since appearing on MTV's "16 & Pregnant," but the reality star claims that she never lost her faith and that while she may not be perfect, her Christian upbringing is very important to her. Abraham is working on a parenting book inspired by her Christian faith and recently spoke about its significance to her.
"I have to say faith is a big part of my life," Abraham told In Touch Weekly. "I'm not perfect, that's just life. There really is no perfect Christian. I go to church as often as possible and I have great Christian friends – and those aren't the ones who say they're Christian and then act like other…"
Abraham has had a tumultuous relationship with her parents, who have always kept their faith during trying situations. In one instance, Abraham accused them of beating her with a belt when she misbehaved.
"They would beat me with a belt if I acted out. I had cuts, bruises, welts, swelling and scars. I needed to stop the abuse. I still have a lot of issues, but I'm more aware now, and I'm determined to break the pattern [with daughter Sophia]," she previously told In Touch.
Her father, Michael, responded to her claims by asking for prayer for his daughter and granddaughter. He says he did not hurt his daughter and has done the best he could for Farrah and Sophia.
"All I can say is that I have always and do love my daughter Farrah," he posted on Facebook. "I'm not perfect and never said I was. I've done the best I could for Farrah and Sophia. I have … tried to be there for my girls and continue to work with Farrah to strengthen our relationship in a healthy manner. My prayer [is] to improve myself, be the father Farrah needs, and be a positive person for Farrah and Sohia so Farrah does not have to be haunted from negatives in her past and have a happy and healthy future."
The author of My Teenage Dream Ended and Celebrity Sex Tape claims that she came to an understanding of religion and spirituality on her own, something that she would encourage her readers to do.
"If I could say that through a type of Christian parenting book, I think that's something that wouldn't hurt them, it would help them and their children," Abraham explained. "It would give them a kind of support and guide to use throughout their journey in life together and I would just be happy to share that."
