'Feud' Spoilers, News Details: FX Confirms Season 2 Will Tackle Prince Charles vs. Princess Diana

FX docudrama anthology series "Feud" recently debuted with relatively good success and reviews. Created by Ryan Murphy, Jaffe Cohen and Michael Zam, the first season details the notorious rivalry between real-life Hollywood actresses Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange) and Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon) during the production of the 1962 movie, "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?"

Gaining 3.8 million viewers during its premiere, "Feud" now holds the record for the network's most watched series premiere since "The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story," and beating "Legion," which had a close 3.27 million viewers during its premiere.

This success leads to a confirmed season 2 renewal with the next subject being British royalties, Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

FX revealed that the second season will not start until next year, yet the announced premise signals yet another tabloid favorite that will now be put in a slightly different light.

As for the current season, Murphy tries to draw out the male influences in Crawford and Davis's feud, most especially from movie director Robert Aldrich (Alfred Molina).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Aldrich's attraction to Davis only added fuel to the fire, as Crawford became even more desperate to ensure that she is still under the director's good graces.

It did not also help that gossip columnists started to publish exaggerated catfights that supposedly happened between the two. This tactic was also tolerated by Jack Warner (Stanley Tucci), the studio head, who thinks that pitting the two women against each other will help promote the movie and sell more tickets.

"So a lot of that was created by the system, by the columnists. What they did still happens today with women," Murphy says during an interview with THR. He adds that "this sort of woman-against-woman reporting is really a device used many times by the media as click bait or back then to sell papers."
