'Final Fantasy XV' News, Update: Game Director Hajime Tabata Reveals Release Date and Updates for Episode Duscae

"Final Fantasy XV" director Hajime Tabata discussed the new changes being done on the title as well as the release date for the updated demo version of Episode Duscae in a Square Enix Active Time Report.

The updated version of Episode Duscae will be made available this Tuesday, June 9 at 8 am PT/ 11 am ET/ 4 pm GMT. Also mentioned in the report are series of "big changes" being implemented as part of the transition from FF XIII to FF XV. The narrative of the game has been drastically changed in "three major ways" from the first drafts written by Final Fantasy developer Kazushige Nojima in Versus XIII.

One of the highlighted revisions is to the character Stella. She was originally planned to appear as Noctis' female counterpart and the heroine of the story. The new rendition will cut off the character from the game.

"We wanted to keep her as a heroine in Final Fantasy XV's story, and persued ways to tie her in to FFXV's design as well," Tabata explained. "But we found it increasingly difficult to make sense of Stella's character and role within FFXV. So then we thought, do weant to recreate Stella with a different role and image, or do we want to start over with a new heroine? And after a lot of consideration, we decided not to include Stella in FFXV."

Taking her place is Luna, whose information will be disclosed soon.

The new changes will also axe the setting of the original trailer shown for the game. The scene involved the Niflheim army attacking Insomia right after Noctis and co. left the city. It was initially intended to introduce Stella but with her already out of the picture, the cinematic "could go too."

The third change will see an addition of a "fighting in a city of some sort." It remains to be seen if it will be in Insomia or somewhere else.

Tabata went on to notify that there won't be any "Final Fantasy XV" updates in the coming E3 convention. The next time the team will appear for another Active Time Report will be at Gamescom in August.
