'Gilmore Girls' New Season Revival News: Netflix Eyes More Content; Early Talks Have Been Made

"Gilmore Girls" fans were treated to a four-part Netflix special in November 2016, but it looks like the streaming giant will not stop there.

According to Deadline, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos recently told the United Kingdom's Press Association that he has spoken to "Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Dan Palladino about possibly going beyond the "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" revival.

"We hope," Sarandos said. "We obviously loved the success of the show, fans loved how well it was done, it delivered what they hoped. The worst thing is to wait a couple of years for your favorite show to come back and for it to disappoint you, but they sure delivered and people were really excited about more, and we have been talking to them about the possibility of that."

There is certainly more room for stories since "A Year in the Life" ended with a major cliffhanger. Rory (Alexis Bledel) revealed to her mother, Lorelai (Lauren Graham), that she was pregnant. However, she did not say who the father was.

Should there be a revival of the revival, it is expected that it will explore Rory's journey towards becoming a single mom and juggling that responsibility with her career. However, Sherman-Palladino herself has said that she does not know what lies ahead for the Gilmore girls. But she is open to producing more content.

"The old adage is you always want to leave them wanting more," she told TVLine in December. And while there were not any plans for more "Gilmore Girls" at the time, she did say that there is always a chance. "I don't rule anything in my life out," she said.

As for who the father of Rory's baby is, fans have been producing many theories that have made rounds online. However, one thing is for sure: it is not Jess. Milo Ventimiglia said so himself while speaking to Build.

Fans definitely want more "Gilmore Girls," but nothing has been set in stone as of yet. Sherman-Palladino is also quite busy with her Amazon show, while Bledel is attached to Hulu's "The Handmaid's Tale."
