'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' News: New Trailer Features Elizabeth Debicki's Ayesha, Kurt Russell's Ego

The new - and possibly last - trailer for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" has been released, and it features a ton of new scenes.

Chris Pratt, who plays Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, made a surprise appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" during a segment of the show called "What Do You Have to Plug?" After two members of the studio audience got a chance to play, Pratt was called on to plug the new trailer for his film, which started hysterically with Kimmel pretending not to recognize Pratt or the movie.

The trailer, which goes on for two minutes and 20 seconds, opens with the Guardians preparing to take on a large creature falling from above. After Peter looks shocked that Gamora (Zoe Saldana) has picked a gun as her weapon of choice for the battle, the beast lands and Drax (Dave Bautista) attacks it with two swords.

It is followed by multiple scenes that include Rocket (Bradley Cooper) being captured by Yondu (Michael Rooker) and the Ravagers, Nebula (Karen Gillan) coming face to face with her estranged sister, and the Guardians being confronted by the golden High Priestess Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki). The clip also features Peter and Gamora sharing a moment, more of Rocket's technological prowess and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) in action. And, of course, it would not be complete without a substantial amount of Baby Groot (Vin Diesel).

However, the most interesting appearance of them all is Ego the Living Planet (Kurt Russell), who is Peter's father. The trailer ends with Ego introducing himself to the Guardians, and Peter looks understandably shocked.

The film is not slated to come out until May, but there has been talk that this may be the final trailer because of a tweet coming from director James Gunn. When asked by a fan, Gunn said that it will be the last one "that will play in theaters." Given the context of his reply, it is still possible that there will be another trailer coming, although it may not be played in theaters anymore.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will premiere in U.S. theaters on May 5, 2017.
