'Horizon Zero Dawn' Review: A Perfect Mix of Action and RPG

Guerrilla Games' "Horizon Zero Dawn" has yet to be launched, but fans are already seeing a lot of potential in the upcoming action role-playing video game.

Trusted Reviews was one of the few who were able to experience an exclusive hands-off demo at the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo, and it did not go home disappointed. The game is said to be a revelation, "the perfect mix between action and RPG," beautifully crafted to ensure maximum enjoyment for the players.

"Horizon Zero Dawn" will be available exclusively for PlayStation 4 on Feb. 28 in North America. The Europe and United Kingdom launch will take place a day later on March 1.

The game will follow Aloy, a redhead protagonist who Guerrilla Games hopes to become a PlayStation icon of the future. Adventurous and extremely driven, Aloy is a tribal hunter who exists in the post-apocalyptic world ruled by machines.

In a recent interview with MCV, the product manager for Sony Interactive Entertainment UK, Jon Edwards, said that the new franchise holds a lot of promise. While "Horizon Zero Dawn" is definitely a step in a new direction for Guerrilla Games, compared to its popular shooter series "Killzone," the game has its own charm. Edwards said they had their doubts about having a female protagonist in the game, but the end product more than exceeded their expectations. He is positive the players will love Aloy just as much as they do. The manager also said they cannot wait for the fans to try out the full game.

"We're excited by the reaction that the fans have had to the game so far. We really feel that [Horizon Zero Dawn] is an exciting addition to the array of PlayStation exclusives already available. Managing expectations can be tough but what we've really tried to do is focus on things like the live playthroughs from the team at Guerrilla and also to give a glimpse of what [protagonist] Aloy faces in this post-apocalyptic world," Edwards said, according to MCV.
