HTC Smartwatch Rumors: Android Wear 'Halfbeak' Allegedly in Development
Rumors have emerged HTC is working on its own smartwatch, an Android wear device codenamed "Halfbeak."
Two years after a rumors surfaced HTC was considering entering into the smartwatch market, new information has come to light the Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer is developing its own Android wear which it has codenamed, "Halfbeak," after the tropical fish with a distinctive elongated lower jaw.
The "Halfbeak" is reported to feature a round-shaped 360 x 360 resolution display with added Android wear support.

HTC earlier sent out invitations to its special event to be held on September 29, called "The World Best Meets the Best," where the tech company is expected to unveil two new smartphones reported to be of the high-end variety.
It is likely the "Halfbeak" will be officially introduced during the same event together with the long-rumored HTC One A9 Aero, which is said to be equipped with a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor underneath a QHD display.
Supported by 4GB of RAM and a rear camera with RAW image capture abilities, the A9 Aero may be launched together with the "Halfbeak" and another device reportedly geared for the Japanese market called the HTC Butterfly, which is rumored to be a spinoff of the HTC One M9.
Should HTC make good on speculations and formally unveil the "Halfbeak," it will be considered the company's bid to jump on the bandwagon of mobile technology's current smartwatch trend, although it has fallen behind brands like tech leaders Apple and Samsung, as well other tech companies like Motorola, LG, Pebble, and Garmin, who have already released their own smartwatch products since the market surged up by more than 80 percent from 2013 to 2014.
Having inked an agreement with Android Wear as a manufacturing partner since March 2014, HTC has yet to release a wearable product of its own.
