iPhone 7 rumors: thinnest Apple smartphone yet, no 4K resolution for display

Apple is currently gearing up for the unveiling of iPhone 6s which will be held during the Sept. 9 event. But while the hype about it is high, some fans just can't seem to get over the rumored iPhone 7 that is said to be released next year.

According to Economic Times, popular KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, has issued a new report that suggests next year's Apple phone could be the thinnest one in the brand yet. It will measure between 6 and 6.5 millimeters, making the smartphone a near measurement of the current iPod touch or iPad Air 2 which are both 6.1 millimeters thick.

It's even thinner than the current model of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus which are 6.9mm and 7.1mm thick, respectively. Meanwhile, the iPhone 6s is expected to be slightly thicker to house a stronger aluminum material and accommodate a new feature. The change isn't much but its slimmer profile is sure to make a difference when it's in the pocket.

Since the iPhone 7 will be slimmer than the usual, it will most likely cost the screen resolution. According to iDigital Times, Kuo believes that the tech giant will once again use in-cell panels over the glass-on-glass touch panels because although it will let the iPhone be bezel-free, the design will actually hinder the iPhone from being made as thin as possible. This could also mean that the rumored smartphone will be thinner than any iPhone but it will not support the emerging super-high-definition 4K standard resolution for the display.

Rumors on the specs of the device has also been going around lately saying that the iPhone 7 will go through a bold new design. According to Latino Post, it may feature a larger screen and would come with a dual-lens camera, an enhanced security feature as well as an overhauled Siri. It's also been noted that the next-gen mobile will have wireless charging.

The details of iPhone 7 remain to be rumors but fans can expect that Apple's next flagship smartphone will really show a whole new take on technology.
