Jennifer Hudson, Grammy and Oscar-Award winning entertainer, reportedly broke down while testifying against the man accused of killing her mother, brother and nephew at the Chicago murder trial on Monday. Fans showed their support on Twitter by asking people to pray for the singer and actress during her difficult time.

Hudson, 30, was the first witness called to the stand to testify against William Balfour, the alleged killer of her family members, and her sister's ex-husband. The entertainer broke down when questioned about sister Julia Hudson's relationship with Balfour.

"None of us wanted her to marry him," Hudson said, according to ABC News. "We did not like how he treated her... I tried to keep my distance from William."

Hudson reportedly took the witness stand for an hour and was in an emotional state while doing so. Although there were no witnesses to the actual murder, Hudson was called to take the stand along with her sister on the first day of the trial.

Fans of Hudson took to Twitter after news of the entertainer's emotional state surfaced Monday.

"Please pray for Jennifer Hudson, who was at opening arguments in the murder trial for her family," one person tweeted.

Another fan of Hudson's said they could not imagine what the singer and actress had to endure during the tough time.

"Prayer and strength out to Jennifer Hudson," the fan tweeted. "I can't imagine what she's going through, again."

Another fan compared her emotions to that of fans watching singer Michael Jackson's trial take place last year.

"We know how it is to relive losing Michael because of the trial," the person tweeted. "Let's keep Jennifer Hudson and family in prayer."

After Hudson's testimony, the prosecution will introduce evidence over the next few days in an attempt to prove that Balfour is responsible for the murders of the singer's family members.
