Jeremy Lin Trade Rumors: Is the Linsanity Leaving Charlotte?
Jeremy Lin continues to be hounded by trade rumors even as he seems to have finally found a home with the Charlotte Hornets. The 6'3-tall point guard is currently the subject of speculation, particularly one connecting him with the Chicago Bulls.
The Bulls are in drastic need of a point guard to substitute Derrick Rose, who is currently having a subpar start to his season. Rose has been bothered by injuries in the recent past and is now struggling with blurry vision. His main backups, Kirk Hinrich and Aaron Brooks, are more of shooting guards, which makes the trading for a pass-first point guard more imminent.
After signing a two-year deal worth $4 million, the 27-year old Lin has performed well as one of the first players off the Hornets bench. Lin, who hails from Taiwan, is averaging 10.4 points in 18 games, with one start, this season. He has also dished out 2.9 assists and grabbed 2.6 rebounds per game as the backup point guard behind Kemba Walker.
Lin is playing arguably his best season since taking the basketball world by storm during the 2011-12 NBA season as the starter for the New York Knicks. But though Linsanity has died down a bit since, Lin also played with the Houston Rockets and the Los Angeles Lakers before taking his talents and charm to Buzz City.
Lin went undrafted after graduating from Harvard in 2010. He played well enough in the Summer League to receive attention from the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, and Golden State Warriors, eventually signing and playing his first NBA game with the Warriors.
During the offseason, there were rumors swirling that Lin may sign as a free agent with incumbent NBA champion, Golden State. The rumors have sprouted again, even if the Warriors roster doesn't seem to need any tinkering. It must be noted that Lin grew up watching the Warriors, thus a reunion with his favorite team isn't too farfetched.
