Jill Paquette Wins Juno Awards

Jill Paquette won the Juno Award for best Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album yesterday, for her self-titled debut album. Her sound is a unique blend of pop and folk, with a strong acoustic sound.

The Juno Awards is the Canadian version of the Grammy's, and awards are given for best albums of the year for all genres, and best artists.

Paquette is also nominated for two Dove Awards this year for her Reunion Records release. Tracks such as "Come To Me" and "Not the Only One" bring up deep issues and reveals greater truth of God. The lyrics are very personal, but also, universal, and hearing it can be my own story.

Paquette grew up in a small mining town in British Columbia, Canada. She was raised with music constantly in the family, and began training since she was young. She feels the most comfortable with the acoustic guitar, though her talents also include piano; and her songwriting is inspiring to hear.
