'John Wick 2' News, Update: Filming Set to Begin This Fall; Chad Stahelski To Solo Direct?

The sequel to one of 2014's surprising action movies, "John Wick," is now getting a definitive production date and a name for a director.

Citing the report from Entertainment Weekly, Thunder Road pictures has revealed this week that "John Wick 2" (the yet to be confirmed title) will begin production this fall.

It has yet to be discovered what the plot of the second installment would be although the article from Screen Rant got its clues from the earlier interviews. It was hinted that "John Wick" directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski may already have it all figured out.

"We have ideas for days and without blinking twice we know we can outdo the action from the original," the helmers said (via SR).

Leitch and Stahelski, however, chose to remain mum on the specifics. Nonetheless, they stipulated that the second film will contain a story and a character that everyone would surely love. The "great action," according to them, will just be the icing on top.

Further reports, this time coming from Comic Book Resources, said that Stahelski might be taking on the directorial task by himself. Citing the article from Collider, it was found that Lionsgate is still intending the duo to work hand in hand with the big screen project, but there will be some adjustments. Stahelski will be sitting on the director's chair while Leitch will be serving as the film's executive producer.

In Leitch's case, there are many rumors saying that a string of project offers are being handed to him. This would seem to suggest that during the production run of "John Wick 2," Leitch will probably be working on another action film.

"John Wick," which stars Keanu Reeves, was a big surprise for both moviegoers and critics who both commended the stunning cinematic visuals, over-the-top fighting choreography, as well as the stellar performance from the "Matrix" actor.
