Johnathan Ramsey Body Found: Boy Was 'Brutally Murdered'

Eleven-year-old Johnathan Ramsey's body has been found, police believe. The boy was tortured and slowly starved to death over the course of a year, according to reports. His parents, Elizabeth and Aaron, are now facing charges of homicide and are being held on charges of first-degree felony of injury to a child.

"All I can say is we have found some remains, and by remains I mean something like bones," Sgt. Brenda Nichols told CBS. "I can't definitely say it's Johnathan Ramsey," she cautioned.

The search for Johnathan began in March, after his grandfather called police to let authorities know he hadn't seen his grandson in over one year. He was rather suspicious and wanted help in contacting his grandson. "In our eyes, he wasn't missing because there were excuses," Edward Ramsey told CBS. "It was hard, but you don't want to put too much pressure."

Aaron Ramsey led police to a ditch where he had placed his son's body, wrapped in a sleeping bag. "This child was horribly murdered," Sgt. Nichols said. "If this is in fact Johnathan's body, he was discarded, brutally discarded."

According to Aaron, Johnathan was left in his bedroom and starved to death after punching Elizabeth in the stomach, causing her to miscarry their child.

"Because this child has not been at rest, we have not been at rest," Nichols stated. "This has been extremely emotional for everyone involved-the family and all the officers involved in this investigation."

Johnathan's family has struggled to come to grips with the crime. "He was a good daddy," Aaaron's mother told Fox News. "He'd go to the ends of the earth for anybody…especially Johnathan."

"We don't know what happened," she added. "We don't know exactly what happened."
