Latoya Jackson Reality Show to Air On OWN Network
LaToya Jackson recently landed her very own reality TV show on Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network, it has been revealed.
The 56-year-old sister of the late Michael Jackson reportedly signed a deal with the struggling network to appear in the show "Life With La Toya."
"I am so pleased to be working with television legend Oprah Winfrey and to be a part of the OWN family," LaToya said in a statement to RadarOnline.com. "This will be one of the most exciting adventures of my life."
The new series will be co-produced by World of Wonder with Ja-Tail Television Exec along with La Toya, Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, Jeffre Phillips and Charles Cook. It is scheduled to premiere during 2013.
Sheri Salata, OWN's co-president, said that the network is "delighted" to be in business with the fifth child of the famous Jackson family.
"We are delighted to work with La Toya to bring this new show to OWN viewers," she said in a separate statement.
LaToya's good news comes amid reports of an ongoing family feud involving her siblings and Michael's children.
On Tuesday, her sister Janet and brothers Randy and Jermaine were revealed as being among a list of Jackson family members who have been banned from the Calabasas, Calif., family home.
The Jacksons have been embroiled in a public spat over Michael's reported $1 billion estate and on July 23, three of LaToya's siblings attempted to ambush the late singer's children Paris, Prince and Blanket during an unannounced visit to the family home. Michael reportedly left a number of his siblings out of his will, which ignited the feud prompting estate attorneys to ban those involved.
"The attorneys for the Estate of Michael Jackson as lessees of the house were requested by Charles Schultz, attorney for TJ Jackson, Jr., the newly appointed Temporary Guardian for Michael Jackson's children, to send a list to the security gate of people neither TJ or the children wanted allowed on the premises in view of the incidents that had just taken place," the estate attorneys wrote in a statement to E! News.
LaToya, who has not had any public involvement in the feud, is said to be embarrassed over the debacle and has requested that her family resolve their differences in private behind closed doors and not in the public eye, according to TMZ.com.
