'Married at First Sight' Season 5 Premiere Date in April on Lifetime
The reality show "Married at First Sight" is going to move to a new home in Lifetime, which is under A&E Networks, as its fifth season premieres next month.
"Married at First Sight" is a reality show that started airing in 2014 through another A&E Network channel, FYI. While the show jumps to a sister TV channel, its format reportedly remains the same.
A teaser for the show was revealed through its official Facebook page with the caption: "#MarriedAtFirstSight is back with 3 new blind marriages. Watch the love stories unfold Thursday, April 20th on a new network, Lifetime Asia!"
"Married at First Sight" season 5 will premiere on Thursday, April 20. On that day, Lifetime will be showing fans the Matchmaking Special episode at 8 p.m. EDT followed by the season premiere at 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. EDT. The premiere features the first and second episodes of the season.
The fifth season of "Married at First Sight" has been ordered as early as October 2016, and previous reports mentioned that the newlyweds are going to spend their first six weeks together in the Windy City, Chicago.
Each season, the show features three couples that have never been together before. Individuals from various age brackets and life backgrounds go through a screening process and are interviewed by experts on various related fields such as psychology, sociology, and sexology.
The experts will then pair up three couples who will be getting married upon their first meeting, as the show's title suggests. They will then spend a night in a hotel before leaving for their honeymoon. The real tests to see if the pairing has potential happen when the couples live together as real married couples would for a span of six weeks.
After six weeks, each couple are given the power to decide if they mutually want to continue their marriage or end it through divorce.
Among the four seasons, seven out of 12 couples have decided to continue their marriage after their six weeks of being together. However, to date, out of those seven pairs, only three remain married – two from the first season and the other from season 4.
