Marvel's 'Inhumans' Cast News: Serinda Swan, Anson Mount Tapped to Play Medusa, Black Bolt

The cast of Marvel's "Inhumans" is slowly taking shape as several new names have been tapped to play characters in the Royal Family. Anson Mount and Serinda Swan will be playing husband-and-wife Black Bolt and Medusa. Additionally, Ken Leung has also been tapped to play Karnak.

According to Marvel's announcement, Mount will play Black Bolt, the "enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans." His main power comes from his voice, which is incredibly forceful that even the smallest of whispers can obliterate an entire city.

Swan, on the other hand, will play Medusa, according to an exclusive report by Entertainment Weekly. Medusa is the wife of Black Bolt, which makes her Queen of the Inhumans. She acts as Black Bolt's confidant and advisor. Apart from being gifted in combat, she also has the power to completely control her hair's movements.

"Serinda Swan brings a regal elegance, as well as a sense of great inner strength and fierce determination, to the role of Medusa," showrunner Scott Buck said of Swan's casting. "I couldn't be happier to have her as our Queen of Attilan."

Finally, Leung's character has the power to see the fault in everything, including non-living things. According to Marvel, Karnak is described as a passionate supporter of Black Bolt. He aids the Royal Family with their plans and strategies.

It was previously reported that Iwan Rheon had been tapped to play the role of Maximus, Black Bolt's brother who secretly hungers for the role of King. However, at the same time, Maximus is also very devoted to Black Bolt, as well as his people. The "Game of Thrones" alum, known for his portrayal of Ramsay Bolton in the HBO fantasy series, was the first to be cast in Marvel's "Inhumans."

"Iwan's ability to be charming, roguish and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life," Marvel Television Head Jeph Loeb said. "We're thrilled to have him on board."

Based on the comic book series, Marvel's "Inhumans" will start airing in September. The first two episodes will premiere in more than a thousand Imax theaters over the Labor Day weekend.
