Mike Tyson's Broadway Show Threatened by Colo. Copycat; NYPD Subpoenas Twitter

The New York Police Department is examining threats made by an Aurora, Colo., copycat who tweeted about killing people at former pugilist Mike Tyson's Broadway show, "Undisputed."

However, Twitter would not cooperate in the investigation, which has caused the NYPD to subpoena the social networking website in hopes of finding out who has threatened to perform a mass killing similar to the one that took place during a showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Colorado last month.

"This (expletive) ain't no joke yo – I'm serious, people are gonna die like Aurora," the antagonist tweeted, according to the New York Post. "Gosh I'm still making this hit list (expletive) I wanna kill a lot of people."

While the NYPD sent an emergency email to Twitter in an attempt to identify the antagonist, the social networking website refused to cooperate in their reply to the authorities.

"We appreciate the timeliness and sensitivity of this matter, and have reviewed the reported Twitter account," the response email from the social networking website stated. "While we do invoke emergency-disclosure procedures when it appears that a threat is present, specific and immediate, this does not appear to fall under those strict parameters as per our policies."

Paul Browne, NYPD spokesman, confirmed that the NYPD did not receive cooperation from the social networking website. However, he also spoke about the precautions that the authorities were taking to ensure the safety of all viewing and participating in Tyson's Broadway show in the heart of New York City.

"We'll cover the theater until we find this guy," Browne said.

According to the spokesperson, armed authorities were dispatched to the location and a subpoena was granted to the NYPD from the Manhattan District Attorney's Office in an attempt to find the true identity of the Twitter antagonist who first began threatening to "shoot that theater up" last Friday.
