Miss Universe News: Over 80 Contestants Arrive in Las Vegas, Nevada for the 64th Miss Universe Edition
Paulina Vega, the Colombian beauty queen, who is also the winner of the Miss Universe 2014, will soon have to pass her crown to another lady since the 64th edition of Miss Universe has now officially started. 81 contestants have finally arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada, and all are vying to win this year's Miss Universe beauty pageant.
The current top 10 favorites from Missossology, a beauty pageant forum, include the candidates from Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Sweden, France, Philippines, Thailand, Dominican Republic, Colombia, and Japan. The competition has just started, but fans are already anxious to see who will be crowned as the next Miss Universe.
Miss Universe is considered to be the most popular international beauty pageant of the present times, and fans all over the world make it a yearly tradition to watch the pageant night. However, being the most popular among the other international pageants does not mean that Miss Universe is not immune to controversies.
The pageant was all around the news a few months ago, since several Latin countries decided to pull out from the competition, after Donald Trump made some "racist" remarks during his presidential campaign announcement. Mexico is among the countries that made an announcement to not send a candidate this year, according to The Wrap.
However, the mogul then decided to sell his ownership of the Miss Universe Organization to talent agency WME-IMG, according to Variety. It will be the pageant's first edition under its new owners, and a lot of those who said that they will pull out from sponsoring or participating in the Miss Universe pageant (like Mexico) have decided to withdraw their earlier announcement.
The Miss Universe 2015 pageant night will happen at The AXIS in Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada. The show will be broadcast live by Fox on Dec. 20.
