'Modern Family' Season 9 Spoilers: Mitch's Ex-Lover to Cause Problems

Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) is fated to meet a former flame in the upcoming season of "Modern Family."

According to the synopsis (via Pop Culture), Mitch's encounter with an ex-lover will stir up old feelings he would rather not have again. It looks like Cam's (Eric Stonestreet) husband will have an ugly conversation with the man when they meet again after many years. Mitch will continue to worry about it even after he gets home, and his family's nonstop chatter will not have the power to distract him from his thoughts.

The Pritchetts are set to have a big family outing in the premiere. Jay (Ed O'Neill) will reportedly coerce the others to go on a trip with him to form new memories with his kin. Spoilers indicate that the patriarch will be thinking about death and wants to have happy moments with his offspring and grandchildren before it is too late. The others will be okay with the idea, as it is their chance to unwind and enjoy.

Phil (Ty Burrell) and Claire (Julie Bowen) will be enthusiastic in exploring the area surrounding their houseboat. Cam, on the other hand, is not as excited. He prefers to stay out of the sun and avoid the possible sunburn. As for the kids, they will soon find out that there is very little they can do in the said vacation. After the first day, they will be complaining to the elders about the monotony.

Fans of the series are looking forward to seeing their favorite family on the screen again. After eight years, the ABC series still has a huge following. The cast members have been vocal with their appreciation of the viewers who have stuck with them for so long. "Modern Family" was one of the first shows to challenge tradition when it first aired in 2009.

"Modern Family" season 9 will air on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 9 p.m. EDT on ABC.
