NBA News, Rumors 2014: Kevin Garnett Contemplating NBA Retirement
Though he might not directly admit it, Brooklyn Nets power forward Kevin Garnett could be contemplating putting an end to his successful NBA career. His latest 109-107 win with Brooklyn Nets over the Celtics this past Friday could have been his final game.
"At this stage, it's always somewhere lurking in the back [of my mind], whether I admit it or not," Garnett Boston.com. "Being truthful with you, sometimes I think about it. I saw Paul [Pierce] the other day in New York and we had a conversation. At this stage, when you know that things are, not taking for granted, but more appreciated, it crosses [your mind]. I wouldn't lie about that."
The sports news publication went on to say that though the 38-year-old athlete probably isn't ready to make his retirement official yet, he was, however, asked if it will happen at the end of this season.
"I don't know. I'd like to say that I give each year its own, and assess at the end of that," the South Carolina native responded.
Garnett also spoke on the latest trade of his friend and former teammate Rajon Rondo to Dallas Mavericks.
"With a little more of a championship base around him, I see him adapting to that with no problem. I watched him play. I see him getting up on defense like old times, just talking and being himself," the 2004 NBA Most Valuable Player said. "I expect great things out of him and I wish him the best."
Kevin Garnett was the first NBA player to be ever drafted directly out of high school in 20 years. He received several accolades in the league including the 2003 All-Star Game MVP, 2008 Defensive Player of the Year, and other recognitions.
