New England Patriots vs Denver Broncos Preview, Team News
The Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots are two of the elite teams in the NFL with two of the best quarterbacks of all time; so it wouldn't really come as a surprise that their matchup for Sunday Night Football is a highly anticipated one.
The game starts at 8:30 p.m. ET, Nov.2 9, at the Sports Authority Field, where the Broncos will obviously have home field advantage. Yes, it's a matchup between Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, but the sad news for fans is that Manning won't be playing in this one because of an injury; however, substitute Brock Osweiler is an interesting figure himself.
Both teams have impressive records to show, too. The Broncos are currently at 8-2 and are heading into this game with confidence after winning against the Chicago Bears last week in a tight one, 17-15. The Patriots are undefeated and saw themselves romp over the Buffalo Bills last week, 20-13.
In Denver's game against Chicago, Osweiler produced 20 successful passes against 27, making 250 yards, not to mention two touchdowns. New England meanwhile dominated Buffalo with Brady leading the way, coming up with 20 out of 39 passes for 277 yards. He also had one interception and a touchdown.
This is supposed to be a continuation of one of if not the greatest rivalries in the quarterback position in the NFL, but Manning's absence surely will disappoint fans; and there is a very likely possibility that both Brady and Manning won't be playing against each other, ever.
Manning is at the twilight of his career and is aging. The painful torn plantar fascia in his left foot is the reason why he still can't play. And with the soon-to-be 40 years old having lingering injuries lately, he just might contemplate on retiring after this season.
One thing going the right way for the Broncos, though, is that Osweiler has proven in his last game that he is more than capable of leading his team to victory. Coupled with the Broncos' strong defensive effort in the past few games, the Patriots will be in for a rough Sunday night.
