Ochocinco Tweet Announces Release From Patriots: 'Fans Were Awesome' (PHOTO)
Chad Ochocinco has responded with a tweet to the news he has been released by The New England Patriots Thursday. The six time Pro Bowl selection has been cut after just one season, and his response was to graciously wish the team all the best and to say the fans were "awesome."
"Thoroughly enjoyed the oppurtunity to play for the 'Patriot' organization... fans were ... wicked awesome, I wish all of you the best," the receiver tweeted. "I'm healthy n living life, I'll be fine."
He also seemed to be taking the news in a light-hearted manner, changing his job description page on Twitter to "Unemployed Black Guy," as well as posting a photo of himself hitchhiking with his suitcase at the airport.
His one and only season with the Patriots was a relatively quiet one; he played just 15 games – starting just three times. He caught 15 passes for 276 yards in total, and also featured for the first time in the Super Bowl as the Patriots went down 21-17 to the New York Giants.
Ochocinco has also starred as a contestant on hit TV show "Dancing With the Stars." He has become quite the TV celebrity, and has even hosted a dating show on Cable TV.
The now ex-Patriot could have a career in television on the horizon; he has even attended the Super Bowl twice as a reporter for his own online "Ochocinco News Network."
Ochocinco has career statistics of 766 passes for 11,059 yards and 67 touchdowns.
