'Once Upon A Time' Cast News, Update: Jamie Chung's Mulan Confirmed to Appear in Season 5
The new casting report over at Entertainment Weekly indicated the return of Jamie Chung's Chinese warrior character, Mulan, in the upcoming fifth season of ABC's hit supernatural drama TV series "Once Upon A Time."
Citing the details from E! Online, it is indicated that the actress will be reprising the Disney role "for a multi-episode run." The specifics on the character's return are, however, still being kept under wraps.
Nonetheless, executive producer Adam Horowitz said, in his social media post, that Mulan will be in "both halves of the fifth season."
EW further speculates based on the clues provided earlier by the EP. He said that a brand new episode in Season 5 will be called "Nimue." Interestingly, the term means "Lady of the Lake," which, in turn, is the title of the episode back in Season 2 when Mulan first appeared in the show.
Needless to say, followers of the series are already looking forward to Mulan's reunion with Princess Aurora (Sarah Bolger). Last Season 3, Mulan joined Hood's (Sean Maguire) band of Merry Men leaving the town when she learned that the love of her life was carrying Prince Phillip's (Julian Morris) child.
In one of the past interviews with E!, Chung said that "it would be really disappointing to leave the audience with this giant question mark," referring to the complicated situation Mulan had with Aurora.
During that brief conversation, the 32-year-old "Sucker Punch" star also expressed her enthusiasm to be with the ABC program once again.
"I would go back in a heartbeat," she told E!
Aside from Mulan, there were also some surprising character comebacks that will surely delight the fans of the series. Earlier this month, it was announced in TVLine that Meghan Ory is also set to reprise her role as Ruby/Red Riding Hood for a number of episodes this season.
Last seen back on Season 3, it also remains to be seen what role will Ruby play in the development of Season 5 which, by the way, premieres this Sunday, Sept. 27, at 8/7c on ABC.
Stay tuned for more updates.
