'Outlander' Season 2 Cast Rumors: Nell Hudson and Simon Meacock to Return, Richard Rankin Joins
"Outlander" season 2 will see the return of familiar faces including Nell Hudson and Simon Meacock, although the details on their respective roles are still unconfirmed.
Earlier this week, Nell Hudson was seen hanging out at the "Outlander" season 2 set despite the absence of her character Laoghaire MacKenzie in the upcoming story. Simon Meacock, who was previously rumored to have been booted from the series, will reprise his role as Hugh Munro, according to Realty Today.
Meanwhile, two spoilers have been posted on the blog of the "Outlander" Homepage. One of them reveals that Scottish actor Richard Rankin has been cast as Roger Wakefield in the second installment of the time-travel series. He will play the adult version of the intelligent, kind, and charming adopted son of Reverend Wakefield, Variety reports.
Roger will play a major role in the lives of main characters Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). When he enters the scene, he will be an Oxford professor who is very interested in history.
The setting of season 2 will be in France, where Claire and Jamie will plot to infiltrate the Jacobite rebellion headed by Prince Charles Stuart. They will also attempt to prevent the deadly battle of Culloden from taking place, the report details.
Jamie and Claire will be immersed in the French society in their quest to change history. Claire will use her knowledge of the future to try to stop the Scottish culture from becoming extinct in an uprising. But their every move in France will also have an effect on their relationship.
In one section of the spoiler, Jamie is quoted declaring his intention to make the rich French men seek his company. He said he and Claire will have to mingle with the society in France and spread the word that the Scots do not want the Stuarts to return.
"Outlander" season 2 is rumored to begin airing in March or April 2016 on Starz.
