PlayStation Update: Firmware 5.0 Released; Team Tournaments and Download Steps Revealed

While Microsoft is busy gearing up for the upcoming release of the most powerful console in modern day technology known as the Xbox One X, Sony's PlayStation has released a new firmware update. Considering they began with firmware version 1.5 back in 2013, the new update is the fifth to introduce new features for PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation 4 Pro (PS4 Pro) owners.

PlayStation reports that the firmware 5.0 is dubbed as NOBUNAGA, which is now available for download to all PlayStation console users. The gaming company also indicated that the highlight of the update is the new "Family on PlayStation Network" system, which allows adult users to run the account as parent or guardians, while also tweaking parental controls for each child in the household.

Reports also indicate that players can now disable pop-up notification during video playback. Moreover, gamers will also be able to check and access their notifications after leaving a party through the Quick Menu. Meanwhile, the restriction on adding non-verified users has been lifted, and fans can now add others regardless of account status through the What's New feed.

Sony also announced that PlayStation firmware 5.0 will have support for Team Tournaments, which will be available on Oct. 5. "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy," "World of Tanks," and "Mantis Burn Racing" will have support for this new feature. By heading over to the Events section any PS4 console, players will be able to easy upcoming tournaments.

They will also be able to enter at most 60 different teams, each will have a captain and an owner. Communications will also be made possible through the team chat feature.

The firmware update is now available for download on the PlayStation Network, and users will need 374 megabytes free on their storage.
