'Pokémon Sun And Moon' News and Updates: Almost 6,000 Players Banned for Cheating

"Pokémon Sun and Moon" has been a widely popular game ever since it was released. And as with almost every game in existence, cheating is bound to happen. But The Pokémon Company does not tolerate those who break their rules, leading to almost 6,000 players being banned from the Global Link.

According to known "Pokémon" site, Serebii, The Pokémon Company made an announcement that 5,954 players have been blocked from online access because of saved data that have been trifled with. This means that players who have been banned will be unable to use such online functions such as partaking in Battle Competitions and Rating Battles. Additionally, they will not be allowed to go on Global Missions and use Game Sync.

Ever since its launch, people have been trying to rise up the ranks in "Pokémon Sun and Moon." Some have even taken to altering their saved data using certain tools in order to succeed. Unfortunately, this is considered cheating and has resulted in an error message showing up on screen when banned users try to access the Global Link.

The Pokémon Company did not elaborate on how they measure cheating, though, as there are a number of loopholes. For example, some players may have inadvertently received altered Pokémon via trading, and it is not clear if these innocent players will also be banned. Some Pokémon are also being tagged as altered when they are legitimately in-game creatures.

Joe Merrick, the webmaster of Serebii, took to Twitter to comment on the issue, stating that the ban is "currently a mess."

The Pokémon Company has said that the ban is designed to be permanent and that they will continue tracking down other cheaters who violate their terms. It is obvious that the Japanese gaming company does not take cheating lightly, as this is not the first time they have implemented such strict repercussions on those who break the rules.
