Sofia Vergara Turns 40, Gets Engaged!

Sofia Vergara has more than her 40th birthday to celebrate this week.

The Columbian actress reportedly became engaged to boyfriend Nick Loeb while on vacation in Mexico Monday.

Loeb popped the question before 90 of him and Vergara's close friends and family while visiting the 1,500-year-old Mayan pyramids of Chichen Itza in Yucatan, according to the New York Post.

Despite reports of a break up last month, Vergara and Loeb have been together for two years. They met at a Golden Globes party in 2010, and their relationship survived a serious car wreck where the "Modern Family" star nursed her boyfriend back to health.
Loeb is the founder and creator of a food topping called Onion Crunch.

Voted as this year's "Most Desirable Woman," Vergara's week-long birthday celebrations included "bouncing around and showing everyone the ring" at the Rosewood Mayakoba resort, according to E! News.

She and her friends also dined at the upscale Casa del Lago and had drinks of Agave Azul. Sunday, the group enjoyed a boat ride to Cozumel and another dinner at Punta Bonita.

Vergara has posted several pictures from her trip to Twitter including images of her son, Manola, her mom, and her Columbian aunts. There is also an image of her cuddling with her new fiancé.

Ahead of her engagement, Vergara revealed that she was considering freezing her eggs when discussing her relationship with Loeb.

"I guess I am going to think about freezing my eggs," the actress told InStyle magazine in April.

Of the businessman, Vergara said, "the most important thing was that he was very handsome," after meeting him in 2010. "But he was also very funny, talking s--- to me like a normal person."

At the time, she said she "didn't really care" about turning 40.

"But doesn't that sound hideous," she asked. "I remember thinking when my mom was 40 that she was already done."

Vergara and Loeb have not yet commented on their upcoming nuptials.
