Solo 'Batman' and 'Superman' Movies News: Have DC and Warner Bros. Picked the Showing Date for the Movies?
After Warner Bros.' announcement that its "Wonder Woman" and "Jungle Book: Origins" movies will have new showing dates, June 2, 2017 and Oct. 19, 2018, respectively, moviegoers find themselves in a new guessing game as the studio also made it public that it will have two new DC movies in the slate, which will be released in the theaters on Oct. 5, 2018, and Nov. 1, 2019. While this sounds exciting for DC fans, it also arouses curiosity as what the two movies are remains unknown.
Warner Bros. has earlier announced the set of DC movies that it will release for the next four years. Not counting the currently heavily criticized, yet a smashing box office hit "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," DC fans are looking forward to the release of "Suicide Squad" (Aug. 5, 2016), "Wonder Woman" (June 2, 2017), "Justice League: Part 1" (Nov. 17, 2017), "The Flash" (March 16, 2018), "Aquaman" (July 27, 2018), "Shazam!" (April 5, 2019), "Justice League: Part Two" (June 14, 2019), "Cyborg" (April 3, 2020) and "Green Lantern Corps" (June 19, 2020).
Because of this announcement, the buzz that Ben Affleck will don his bat suit for the fifth time has become even louder. Apart from playing the role of Batman in the currently showing "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," Affleck is set to reprise the role for a cameo in the upcoming "Suicide Squad" and the two "Justice League" movies. Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Affleck has already finished writing his "Batman" movie script, and director Zack Snyder is even pushing him to direct it. With this, there is a high probability that one of the unnamed movie in the slate is Affleck's solo "Batman" film.

On the other hand, some people also believe that the other showing date is reserved for Henry Cavill's solo "Superman" film. Cavill and Snyder have been vocal in saying that they want to do another standalone "Superman" movie as a follow up to their tandem via the 2013 "Man of Steel" blockbuster. In an interview, Cavill said that negotiations for a solo "Superman" movie would begin once Warner Bros. and DC are satisfied with the box-office performance of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."
"I do believe it depends upon the success of [Batman v Superman]. If this goes well then we can start negotiating with Warner Bros. to develop a standalone Superman. But they've got their plans set out for other stuff and Justice Leagues and various other movies. It's about finding the time, really. It's something that I would be very keen to do," Cavill said.
With "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" crossing the $700 billion mark for its global ticket sales, could it be that Warner Bros. and DC have already given the standalone film features of the two famous superheroes a green light?
